Personal Statement

I’m Cannon Starcke, Junior Inside Linebacker at The Woodlands High School, The Woodlands, TX (class of 2020). We recently concluded our 2018 season, competing in the Texas 6A classification. Our team finished with a 9-4 record as we were crowned the 15-6A District Champions, Bi-District Champions, Area Champions and Region Semifinals runner-up.

One of my goals is to play collegiate football while I continue my education. My passion for the game, commitment to the team, and work ethic, combined with our coaches’ dedication and knowledge helped me achieve success on the field. This year I earned All-District Honorable Mention as well as being awarded “Defensive Front Seven Player of the Week” twice by our team coaches.  I'm also proud of earning All-District Academic Team honors this season.

I'm a versatile player.  My Freshman and Sophomore seasons I played Outside Linebacker.  As a Junior, I was moved to Inside Linebacker and was given the opportunity to play both Mike Backer and Will Backer positions.  As Mike Backer I was charged with the responsibility of making our defensive calls and alignments. 

The brotherhood and bonds formed, in addition to the personal and team challenges faced on the field, inspire me to give it my all every day and push me to aspire to be the best I can be for the greater good of the team. I’m very interested in playing football for an institution that gives all it can for success on the field and one that pushes its athletes to be the best they can be academically in preparation for life after college.
