Personal Statement

My name is Dillon Larson.

I am a student athlete for Lawson High School graduating in the class of 2020. My current weight of  300 pounds and height of 6' 1" tall helped our football team go to round 2 of Districts as I can hold my own on the line against 1, 2 or 3 players at a time to create play opportunities.

My football career with Lawson High School has given me many opportunities to play multiple offense and defense positions on the field.  Several of my coaches has described me to be the player that can play and exceed any position given on the field along with being a leader/motivator for the lineman on the field.  My passion, perseverance, and drive for the game along with my leadership skills makes me a good mentor for my teammates and coaches.

My Junior year I played the Center Position and received Honorable Mention for All -Conference in this position.

My Senior year I played Offensive Tackle & Defensive Tackle.  While in these positions I received numerous awards including 1st Team - KCI All Conference Offensive Line -unanimous, 1st Team - KCI All Conference Defensive Line, 1st Team - All District Offensive Line, 2nd Team - All State Offensive Line, KKWK All Star, Regional Radio All Star, and KMZU Dream Team.    Within our team we were broken up in squads and I was one of the squad leaders.  Within the position, I would help my team mates with listening, guiding, and encouraging them on a daily basis both on the field and off the field.  I made sure they knew I was always there.

My skills don't go unnoticed off the field either as I take many strides to stay conditioned in the weight room and academically.  My passion for football also goes to the weight room as I currently carry the highest amount of weights being lifted within our school.  I have broken our school record in weightlifting of over 1200 pounds (535 - Squat, 315 - Cling, 370 - Bench) and working on getting to 1300 pounds by graduation.   I use my drive of getting bigger, better, faster each day to prepare for the future dreams of playing the next level.

Academics is something I take very seriously by maintaining an A/B average in my classes that puts me on our honor roll list each year.  Within my Junior Year I received my academic letter. My Senior year, I even took and completed a College Algebra class with a completed grade of A-.  Not only do I attend my classes, I help and  mentor underclass students in our school by being a cadet student and teacher aide.  I belong to our trading card program within our school that guides 5th graders with peer pressure, academics, drug & alcohol use, and character traits which I take very seriously.  I lead a drug and alcohol free life.

As a student athlete it has taught me how to treat people better with listening, respect, honor, loyalty, sportsmanship (win or lose), teamwork and several other characteristics that I carry with me everywhere I am and where I go in the future.

Football is not only a game for me it is a passion I have carried with me since I was 8 years old.  Whenever anyone asked me what I wanted to be do when I growed up it would always be play football.  I have used this passion as my drive to become a better person and player for my teammates.  I take my coaches and teammates as a family and brotherhood.  I strive to be the player that motivates and delivers to my team.  If I am not able to be on the field then I still want my future to include but not limit me to be involved within the sport of Football either by coaching, training, managing or commentating the love of Football.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me and I hope to hear from you.
