Personal Statement
Hello my name is Zach Thompson. I played two years of pee wee football as a linebacker and running back then started playing soccer and basketball. I played a few years of very competitive soccer and as a 13 year old played for my local AYSO region U-14 all star team and then was called up to help the U-16 all star team, playing against kids two to three years older than me. I more than held my own with them and also referee soccer matches. My freshman year I was a backup to a terrific kicker who would move up to varsity our sophomore year. I did get a few kicks in however and started my sophomore year on JV, where I was perfect on extra points (that were not blocked) going 21-21, five touchbacks and two onside kick/pooch kick recoveries. I only attempted one field goal however.
My family is always there supporting me, my dad who is a correctional officer, my mom who has stayed at home and provided the warmth every home should have, my big sister who is always ready for a ride to practice or a pick up if needed, my older brother who is also a football player, and my little sister who is a pretty good soccer goalie. In our free time we try to visit beaches or amusement parks and make those good family memories. We are all gamers and love competing with each other too. I am looking forward to finishing high school as a top kicker in the league and helping our team to playoffs the next two years while also deciding on possible majors for college. As my dad would pray at our Sunday dinners, God will guide and protect me with those decisions ahead. It's up to me however to look, listen, and take the steps to get it done.
UPDATE: During the COVID-19 pandemic I did get to the park several times to work on kicks and I work out regularly at home staying in shape and getting ready for summer condition and my upcoming junior year, on varsity.
