Personal Statement
As a student athlete, I plan to attain the best possible education and work for a highly competitive football team. I will remain focused on becoming a better student, athlete and person as I balance working towards my bachelor's degree while working for the football team.
As a well rounded athlete, I offer diversity and versatility to any team. I can block well in a three point stance, perform kick out blocks and pull throughs in the wing position. I am also utilized in the slot, when we use a no tight end package.
In order to play football you need to have a certain kind of mental toughness unlike any other sport. As well as a team first mentality. As a freshman, I was asked to be a long snapper. I did that in addition to tight end and outside linebacker. I am willing to do anything needed in order for the team to be successful. In every sport that I played, on every team that I played for, I challenged myself to look for the things that the team needed to improve and put myself in that situation, even if it was outside my comfort zone.
My sophomore year I started varsity both ways as tight end, outside linebacker and when called upon, special teams. I was leading the state with eight touchdown receptions in four games until a season ending injury in the fifth week, with a break to the humerus. After an 8 hour surgery, many hours of occupational therapy and personal grit, I was cleared to play basketball two months later, where I am currently a full time player on the varsity team as a sophomore. College sports are not easy, there will be major challenges and setbacks. This experience and my perseverance will help me pick up the team when times are tough.
I work hard on the field and in the classroom, and I will continue to maintain or exceed my 3.92 GPA.
I look forward to the opportunity to playing football at the collegiate level, growing as a student and athlete, under the direction of a strong coaching staff and among other dedicated college athletes in 2021.
