Personal Statement
I began playing tackle football in first grade. I immediately fell in love with the game and have pushed myself to become the best player I could possibly be ever since.
I am Class of 2021 and play for Marist School in Atlanta -- which is an extremely intense program that has become one of the winningest high school teams in Georgia history. Since enrolling at Marist, I was the starting quarterback of our 7th, 8th and 9th grade teams. In 10th grade, I was the starting quarterback for the Junior Varsity team and back-up quarterback for the Varsity team (playing behind a talented teammate only one grade older who accepted a scholarship offer at a D-1 school). Throughout the school's history, the Marist offense has historically been based around the triple option (although over the last few years, we have developed a much more balanced attack) -- so playing quarterback in the Marist system has required athleticism, good decision making and the ability to run and throw the ball. In my Junior year, because of my athleticism and play-making ability, the coaches asked me to transition to several new positions -- including Slot Receiver, Running Back and Defensive Back. So in reviewing my film through the years, you will see highlights of me playing not only quarterback through 10th grade but also a variety of other positions in 11th grade.
I have always focused intensely on my education. I have attended challenging, well regarded schools since first grade in Atlanta and have never made below an A in my academic career. I have always been on the Honors Math and Science track, and my Weighted GPA at Marist School is presently a 4.40. I have earned Deans List all nine trimester terms throughout 9th, 10th and 11th grades. In 11th grade, I won the Class Award recognizing the top student in A.P. Chemistry. In 10th grade, I won the Class Award recognizing the top student in Honors Chemistry. I have been inducted into the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta National Mathematics Honor Society and French National Honor Society.
Outside of my rigorous training schedule as part of my high school team, I am always working to improve my strength, speed and agility -- having trained with Anthony Daisy, founder of Exercise BioEnergetics, for the last three years. In addition, while playing quarterback, I trained for a few years with Chris Hixson, founder of The Passing Academy, to enhance my technique and football IQ. Importantly, I am also a team leader, trying to lead be example through my significant playing experience, work ethic, competitive spirit, sportsmanship and coach-ability.
Of utmost importance to me is to attend a college that offers an exceptional education and be among the most well regarded institutions from an academic standpoint. I look forward to finding the school that provides the best overall fit, and I will promise that I will always give my very best on all fronts.
