Personal Statement

My name is Ulices Ayala, a first-generation Latino college student. I feel that one of the major things that makes me different than all the other recruits is that I would never put myself over my team or allow them to feel like failures in academics or sports. Being a safety I must know my defense and know that I can trust them and they can trust me.  I am a highly motivated person and can play the sport with a passion. I'm a good candidate for any team because I always make sure to work hard not just in the sport but also academics. I joined the Upward Bound Program in Long Beach, so I can be exposed to more resources and support. Through their help and my dedication I have slowly moved my GPA from a 2.5 to a 2.8, in hopes to have a 3.0. I do not just want to be an athlete but also a scholar. Overall, besides an athlete and scholar my goal is to receive my degree in hopes to go into law enforcement and making my family, community, team, and myself proud.
