Personal Statement
Throughout my life, I have been motivated, and influenced to become the best person, and the best athlete I can be, both on, and off the field. While playing football, I found that my fortitude motivates and influences my actions on the field, in my community, and in the classroom. Because of my drive to be the best I can be, I have taken on leadership roles that I value such as volunteering to feed the homeless, volunteering my muscial skills as a drummer at my church, and serving as an officer in my Men of Vision group at my high school.
I developed a love for football from my father and older brother who have both played football at the college level. They have been a strong support for me as I developed my football skills. I started playing football at the age of six, and I can remember being a water boy for high school players while my dad and my brother coached. Football has long been a part of my life, and having my mom as a teacher helped me to realize the importance of my education at an early age. My family has never allowed me to settle for doing less than my best in any endeavor I chose to be a part of. We believe that anything worth doing, is worth doing well. That being said, I had to learn to balance my responsibilities of football and my school work.
Currently, I am preparing to start applying to colleges that offer academic programs that I am interested in. I know that in order to be accepted into the college of my choice, it is important for me to achieve and maintain high GPA. Right now, my weighted GPA is a 3.84 while challenging myself in rigorous classes such as Chemistry, Biology Honors, Algebra II, AP Human Geography, AP Psychology.
Because I am a visual learner, I have learned that it takes me a long period of time to study and prepare for tests. In order to overcome this challenge, it is important for me to always create a study plan that balances my studies, football activities, and my volunteer work. It is, and always will be my goal to give my 100% effort in all that I'm involved in. I would bring this attitude of service to my team, and I would always seek to support, and work with my teammates, as well as learn from you, my coaches.
I am ready to meet the challenges that would make me a leader on your team.
