Personal Statement

Growing up, I always enjoyed being active. I started Brazilian jiu-jitsu and soccer at the age of five. When I later began playing basketball and travel soccer, I realized how exciting fast-paced competitive team sports can be. It was in the 7th grade though, when I thought it would be fun to try and play football with my friends, that I discovered my true passion. I didn't know much about the game and would not have guessed that football would become such a foundation in my life.  

Football has had a positive impact in my development as a person. Because of the time commitment, it has helped me stay focused on my studies and has pushed me to succeed academically. In order to perform to the best of my abilities, I know I need to take care of myself.  Having the privilege to play this game has reminded me to make good choices in order to do that. Also, football has taught me how to set goals for myself and how to work to achieve them. These life skills are invaluable.

I am thankful for my quick feet, my ability to keep my eyes on the ball and hit hard, and most importantly no matter what the score is or how much time is left on the clock, I never give up. With these qualities, along with what football has taught me, I believe I will be an asset to a program and team. Although I am undecided on a major, my goal is to find the college that best suits me and gives me this opportunity to pursue football at a higher level.
