Personal Statement
My name is Ian Johnson and I am a member of the Class of 2022 at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in Miami, Florida. I play offensive line, but strive to show my prowess as a defensive lineman. Although I favor defense, I am willing to play whatever a coach asks me to play to the best of my abilities.
As a student, I work hard in order to establish myself as a successful student-athlete and not athlete-student. I strive to give back to my community and work to elevate students’ awareness about different cultures and traditions. I am always willing to help those in need, but on the field I play for my team with a ferocity that is unforgiving. My goal every play is to put someone on the ground or help my team score. I am known for how I fire off the ball and staying low with leverage to overpower and use my speed to outmaneuver my opponents. I am a student of the game.
At the collegiate level, I am leaning towards a pre-law or pre-med major, but am still exploring options. I am looking for a top 50 academically ranked school. Based on the schools I have visited, I prefer a moderate to large sized college or university where school spirit is very prevalent.
I hope to find an institution that will allow me to accomplish my goals academically and athletically. A university that will not only allow me to work with my community, but allow me to be the best version of myself.
