Personal Statement

As a senior full IB student, I aspire to earn the IB diploma while playing the highest level of volleyball possible. I play volleyball year round and have been playing since 3rd grade. I am very goal oriented, highly disciplined, and hardworking. My leadership skills shine, not only on the court but in my extracurricular activities as well. Last year I was nominated by my teachers and chosen by the principal to be a part of his advisory council. I am also a council member on ASB a member of National Honors Society and Key Club. My dad is a city councilman in Vancouver, WA and we often volunteer on the weekends. We do everything from painting over graffiti to planting trees.

My experience balancing volleyball, the sport I absolutely love, and my studies will help me with my college career.  I plan to major in premed and hopefully become a doctor. Furthermore, my love of the sport and my teammates drive me to become a better player and student. I genuinely want the best for everyone on my team(s), which coincides with being a great setter. Being a setter has taught me leadership, discipline, compromise, and cohesion. While being a part of a team I’ve learned how to deal with many personalities, always looking for the best in everyone else and bringing that aspect in them, out on the court. I've been told multiple times while being on different teams, that I am the "energy" on the court. I love playing volleyball and it shows.  My high school team, which I am the setter running a 5-1, is doing exceptionally well this year and we finally beat Ridgefield, the #1 team in 2A GSHL.

I want to play collegiate volleyball more than anything and will do whatever is necessary to achieve that goal. Please consider me for your team. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Caroline Hansen
