Personal Statement
My name is Liam McBride and I play wide receiver for Washington-Lee High School. We compete in Northern Virginia’s 6A Liberty Division. I am 6’ 1” tall, weigh 175 lb., and run the 40 in 4.59 seconds (laser timed). I will graduate with the class of 2020.
I started tackle football eight years ago after watching my brother play and I love that every year I learn more and keep getting better. I have been a starting wide receiver on our varsity team since my sophomore year and I’m looking forward to a great senior year and beyond. I’m best on deep routes, but I’m also a solid slot receiver with the ability to create space between me and defenders.
Outside of football, my favorite hobbies are playing chess and fishing. I also run indoor and outdoor track. As a sophomore and junior, I won Arlington county’s varsity 55m indoor championship and outdoor 100m championships. This year as a Junior, I qualified for States in the 55m, 100m, 110HH, and 300H. I also hold multiple school track records
I love the game of football. I’m a team leader and have a solid work ethic. I also quickly learn complex offensive schemes and catch balls that hit my hands. I’d like to join a football program at a school with a strong academic tradition, has a supportive team-first ethos, and is willing to let me prove myself on the field.
