Personal Statement
My name is Rion S. Cruz. Currently, I am heading into my senior year at Newbury Park High School, Newbury Park CA. I spent my freshman & sophomore year at Oaks Christian School, Westlake Village CA in which I had the privilege to play football under Coach Jim Benkert and Coach Charlie Collins' leadership . I play Defense & Offense on Varsity. I am a 5’11 211 lb RB/LB/ATH. I am a scholar athlete with a 4.0 semester GPA and 3.5 Cumulative GPA in IB courses and I was awarded Offensive Back of the Year along with all honorable mentions for all CIF academic teams. I am truly a dedicated and determined football player, and I am always 110% committed to the process of getting better every single day at my craft.
My personal experience with sports started when I was five years old. I began my football career playing for community league sports in Vancouver, Canada where I was raised until I moved to California in 2017. IAs a Canadian-American, it also gave me options to expand my reach outside youth football and compete in the U.S. It has inspired me to become a better student and a better football player. I know there is always unexpected setbacks that happen in life but I am always willing to work through it and create a positive outcome. I believe with my diligence, strong work ethics and a driven attitude serves as an asset to a team's success. I like to challenge myself in everything I do whether it's a win or a loss. I always look at the big picture, show intent for the game, and to be of support to my teammates as a whole opportunity to excel.
I plan to further my studies, in the field of Sports Medicine & Business where I can work on becoming a renowned sports medicine specialist, with a focus on nutrition, athletic training and mental wellness. Ultimately, outside and after college football, I plan to build high-tech driven Sports Medicine & Athletic Training Facilities that will serve and empower aspiring athletes, the youth, and people coming from all walks of life.
Thank you for visiting my Recruiting Profile. I look forward to finding the best College for me !!
