Personal Statement
I started playing football in the 6th grade. I tried it as a kid in 4th grade but quit. When my younger cousin moved to Georgia, I would go to his football games. I hated watching him lose so, I would do football work outs with him. Eventually, my uncle convinced me to play football and I was totally down with it.
When I started playing football, It was a rough start. I played several positions and with coaching issues, we didn't have the best season with one regular season game win but surprisingly, we went to the play offs. I actually did good my first season and was considered a star player on my team. That season really showed me how to deal with failure and the importance of working hard for what you deserve. I realized I had a passion for the game and tried to put football in everything I do, even doing foot work drills up the steps and in the hallway. After that season, I moved to a different team( my current team) and had a great season. I noticed a couple of my friends getting looked at by colleges a little that year and a lot next year in 8th grade. I was determined to handle my business on the field and most importantly in the classroom so I could also have attention from colleges.
Even though I had a lot of good things happen throughout my years of playing football, I've faced a couple obstacles that made me think if i wanted to continue playing. In 7th grade, my team was invited to the Born To Compete tournament and we made it to the second round. We lost 30-0 in the second round Vs. Central Dekalb. We were all heart broken after the game because we had an undefeated season that year. It really tested me but really pushed me to work harder in the off-season and make myself better as a player. Also, the following year in 8th grade, I was told by my coach that I was needed to play O-Line. I wasn't a fan of the idea at first but i did what was needed for my team to be successful. That year me and two others that don't regularly play O-Line won Mr. McEachern. I was continuously told that I am a really coachable and versatile player. I believe I have the talent to compete for any college team and the attitude that will make others want to work harder and become better as well. I know as a football player and a wrestler, I have what it takes to be on your team.
