Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Kate Longo. I am in the Class of 2023 and my goal is to play field hockey in college. I have been playing field hockey since second grade and it is by far my favorite sport. While I also run track, play basketball, and lacrosse, I love everything about field hockey- from the practices, to the games and especially the travel tournaments. My favorite thing about the sport is that there is always a new skill you can learn and improve on. I consider myself a very driven and hardworking player that will be a great asset to your team. One word I would use to describe me one the field is versatile. Although my favorite position is right midfield, my coach puts me at every defensive position, all 4 mid-field positions and occasionally at outside forward. I can play any position you put me at and I am able to adapt to changes quickly. I am also a quick thinker on the field which allows me to make good decisions and then execute them with success- especially when in the circle where I am trying to shoot or draw a corner. On attack I am a very selfless player and always look for the 100% pass and do whatever it takes for the team to be successful. Finally, I have a very competitive personality especially in games, practices, and during fantasy football season (I am the reigning champion). In school, I am very diligent in my studies and challenge myself as much as possible. I was inducted into the National Junior Honors Society during middle school. Overall, I am a dedicated scholar-athlete who will be a perfect fit for your program and who will give you everything I have in order to be successful at whatever comes my way!
