Personal Statement
Growing up my parents told me that Jerrell was the name of Super-Man's Father. I wondered what they were thinking. Do these people think that I am a super hero? Luckily for me, I never was burdened with a "super-hero" expectation from them. However, I do understand that their clear expectation of me is to be my best at whatever I choose to do. I continue to strive to make gains in every area of my life so that my efforts in the classroom and hard work in sports can help me to continue my education and quest to play sports at the college level.
I have excelled in the classroom by taking college prep coursework and maintaining honor roll status. I have done this while competing in football, competing in track & field, along with training.
Being the coachable athlete has led me to try things I otherwise would not have done. One example of that was training to run the 400Meter relay. I had never competed in that event before and ended up being the lead leg of the 2018 IHSA Class 2A 4x400M relay state championship team as a junior. During 7x7 travel football spring/summer 2019 I worked on defensive back skills which is a position stretch for me.
I am very competitive, smart and coachable athlete. I have a strong work ethic and understand how to contribute to the success of the team. I am the quiet wide receiver with the heart of a super-hero that would be an asset to any team.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
