Personal Statement
My name is Gavin Yates, I have been pursuing the chance to play college football ever since I was in the fifth grade. I’m a passionate individual on the football field and in the classroom. A part of being a Varsity Captain is always being the leader on and off of the field, and being a student of the game. I will be a leader from the first day I walk into your program to the last day I leave in as many ways as needed. I am a good teammate but as a leader of the team you can’t always be the nice guy you have to get on to your teammates when they do something wrong to help them, and help the team. One thing that sets me apart from others is that I love to practice, every day you step on the field and it is another chance to get better as a player and as a team. Practice is an opportunity to bond with teammates while doing something I love to do. If you ask me to play any position, run any play there’s only one answer that you say to a coach and that is “ Yes Sir ’’. I am a 6’4” 220 lb Defensive End, Tight End, Linebacker, Fullback and Long Snapper that is versatile in all three phases of the game. I currently have a GPA of 3.84 and took the ACT in October and waiting on the score. In the beginning of the 2019 year I was moved from Quarterback to Defensive End/Tight End to better help the team and while there I excelled at the position change. This is who I am, I will do anything to be able to play football and help my coaches and team be successful. I would like the opportunity to play at the next level because I am very passionate for the game of football.
