Personal Statement
Greetings, my name is Kalen (KJ) Smedley and my collegiate goals and aspirations are to pursue a top-level education while performing at the highest level in the sport that I have grown to love over the last ten years. I believe that I am the best candidate for your team because I lead from the front, pushing my teammates to exceed their own expectations, and motivating them to perform at the optimum level both in the classroom and on the field. I’m different from other recruits because I am a student of high character, I place my academic standings and achievements above my athletic ability and accomplishments, and I have been raised in a military family where loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage are the foundation to everything that I instill in my life. I strive to excel in the classroom and in all of my endeavors, and that in-turn results in quality achievements on the gridiron. I am a multi-sport athlete who also excels in basketball and track & field. These sports assist me in honing my craft as a cornerback and a wide receiver, and I look forward to the opportunity to compete at the highest level in 2023.
