Personal Statement
When I was a little girl I fell in love with softball, whether it was watching it or playing it I could never seem to get enough and I’m proud to say that not much has changed. All my life I have been told that there is no substitute for hard work, so to this day I have lived by that. There is no greater feeling than being able to succeed, as a team next to my best friends. Over the years I have learned not to take this game for granted, as the biggest challenge I have had to face was a major injury that stopped me from playing the game I love. With that in mind one of the things I value most is playing for the team rather than playing for myself and I believe that shows through my hard work and dedication both on and off the field. No matter how I’m feeling, or how I’m performing that day I always hold myself accountable and come to compete for the girl next to me. I see a team as a flight of stairs with each player being a different step, if you are missing just one of those steps you will not be able to reach the top. This ties in with my idea that every player has their own role on the team and that every single one of them, starter or non starter is needed to succeed.
