Personal Statement

I hold myself to the highest standards of academic and athletic achievement and leadership. As a team captain, it is my job to show the novices and my peers how to set goals and reach them; how to push themselves further than what they think is possible.

To me, crew is the truest team sport, as each person’s success is tied intrinsically to the person next to them. A boat has to succeed together, not individually. I work hard not just for myself, but for my team. I want to be the best asset I can to those around me. Rowing is about doing the best I can to be a benefit to my boat and setting up those younger than me for their own accomplishments. I am determined to push myself and my team to do whatever it takes to have all of us achieve our goals, together.
