Personal Statement
I began playing football when I was 5 years old. Even though I was interested in playing at a young age, I did not have the heart and desire for the sport until years later. As I aged, my desire to play and develop as a committed player grew stronger each season. While in 9th grade at Archbishop Ryan High School, I had an opportunity to play on the school’s varsity football team, but I got sick and had to miss 6 weeks of the season. I was very discouraged that I missed my opportunity and had to work extremely hard during the summer of my sophomore year. My hard work paid off and I earned a starting varsity position as a safety and wide receiver that season, helping to lead my team to the Catholic League Championship.
I’ve had to learn how to deal with adversity in different situations on field, which has made me stronger mentally. When facing challenging teams, I have developed more confidence in playing in my position which has contributed to the team's effort and success. My goal in high school is to prepare myself for success in college. I hope to not only succeed academically in high school, but to develop the life skills needed to be on my own. In college, I plan to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Marketing where I can go on to promote within a professional sports organization.
