Personal Statement
I am a student-athlete, not just an athlete. Every day I strive to do the best I can in life, whether it is school, family, sports, or my faith; putting more than 100% into everything I do. I aspire to play college football and to earn a scholarship academically and athletically. Ever since I began playing at the age of 4, I fell in love with the game and never lost that love. I became a natural leader as soon as I touched the ball. My determination, initiative, and leadership skills are what make me a great football player. I knew coming into high school that I would be behind a 4-star recruit, but that did not change my mind about playing football at Tompkins Highschool. I played freshman football and then the next year my determination led to be able to play on the varsity level as a sophomore.
My character and strong academics are what separate me from all of the other athletes and recruits. I am in all AP and honors core classes. The difficulty of my coursework has ensured that I develop my time management skills to maintain excellence in my academics while making the time to further develop my skills on the field. I try to be the best version of myself, keeping a positive attitude at all times, and trying to help anyone who needs it. I am the first person on the field, in the weight room and in film study and the last one to leave. I always put in the extra work and do all I can to continue to get better and grow as a player, and most importantly as a person. This is what led to me being elected to our Leadership Council as a sophomore, which is voted on by our teammates and our coaches. Most recently, I also received the Obra D Tompkins Award for 2020. This is the highest award given for each class each year and is based on character and academics. I am extremely proud of this recognition. I am incredibly determined, and I will pour all I have into what I am doing to succeed. I know that I will make an excellent addition to any football program.
