Personal Statement

I've never found anything worth doing to be easy or without demanding respect.

As a child, my parents taught my siblings and I manners and how we are to respect them at all times. We may not have like what they had to say or expected from us, but we were to respect them and follow through accordingly. That respect started with acknowledging questions or commands with "yes ma'am" and "yes sir" and it carried over into the classroom, into sports, and into life. In the classroom we learned that if we disrespected our homework or our teachers, it would fall to us; we would fail.  In sports I realized if I don't do the work behind it (whether it be weight lifting, football practice,  wrestling practice, boxing, or muay thai), I was never going to be great. My two youngest siblings both have autism and I have learned that they and their disability deserve respect and love in a way I'd never known before. I understand why my parents raised me to have integrity in everything I do. My youngest siblings have taught me to have love for life and for those that depend or look up to me... It all matters. It will lead me to success or failure. It has also taught me that even if I fail, I gotta get back up and work even harder.

One of the motivators in my life is to be the person that is good, that put the hard work in, that is kind and respectful in every area of my life.  I want to make my parents proud and just as importantly, I plan on making my future college proud of me too.
