Personal Statement
My name is Padraig (Paddy) Fitzgerald, Class of 2021, at Marmion Academy in Aurora, IL. Marmion is a college preparatory school that is a member of the Chicago Catholic League.
I play quarterback and am exploring my college options of receiving a great education and playing football at the highest level possible. As a junior, I earned the starting quarterback position this season, leading us to a 7-4 record. Academically, I am a very good student who understands the importance good grades and disciplined study habits.
My goal is to earn a business degree and eventually an MBA. On the field, I plan to be a dynamic player and positive influence on the team. As I continue to grow physically and mentally, I am committed to improving and being an asset to the team.
Since 2013, I have trained with Jeff Christensen and Preston Earl at Throw It Deep Quarterback Training Academy. Both quarterback coaches are well respected by college and professional coaches, working with 40+ current NFL and college quarterbacks. Focus is on fundamentals – footwork, throwing and body mechanics, as well as the mental and physical aspects of playing quarterback.
There are three word that best describe me – Commitment, Leader and Humility.
- Commitment – I am committed to continually improving as a student and quarterback. I like to be challenged and push myself to learn and then apply what I learn.
- Leader – One of my responsibilities in the classroom and on the field is being a leader. Through hardwork, communication, discipline and confidence, I am able to gain the respect of my teammates.
- Humility – Any success I achieve is due to those around me – teachers, coaches, teammates. No matter how well I do, I know I can always improve.
I am confident that my level of commitment, leadership and humility is a great base for success in college and complements my quarterback qualities.Thank you for your consideration.
