Personal Statement

Several people in my family have influenced me by introducing me to the game of softball, a sport I love.  My parents have shaped me into the person and player, I am today.  One of my fondest memories while growing up was when my mom pitched to my brother and I while we were waiting for the bus.  I was very fortunate that my elementary school had a softball league of its own. I played softball from second grade through fifth grade and enjoyed playing with my friends.  I started playing when I was seven and my love for the game has grown tremendously since then.  Playing a sport that I love has helped me become a stronger, motivated, and confident person.  As a result of playing softball for the past ten years, I have developed a multitude of leadership qualities. 

My academic goals for high school are to attain a 3.5 GPA. In college, I hope maintain the same GPA.  I have had to overcome many obstacles, on and off the field, to become the player and the person that I am today.   Coaches have told me that I am a coachable kid, a team player, a strong leader, and believe that I will be able to take my game to the next level, collegiate level. In high school, it all started with my Freshman year, when I first earned the starting catcher spot on the varsity team and I have continued to get better as a varsity starter.

I am a cheerleader amongst my teammates. I am known to help my pitcher to calm down, take a breather to allow her to re-boot herself when she is down or “off”. I am the quarterback of the team, always keeping the girls in the game by calling pitches, plays, etc. I have perfected throwing from my knees and knowing when to call time when the pitcher or another player needs a physical or mental break.
