Personal Statement
Good day, I am Jonathan L. DeJesus and I am 17 years old and I am a rising senior at St. Anthony's High School in Huntington, New York. I am 6'2" tall and weigh 297 lbs with a wingspan of 6'4. I am an honor roll student with a 96.4 GPA.
In conjunction with my academics, I am a Defensive Lineman and I also have played Offensive Tackle. I am co-captain of the varsity bowling team. Besides playing football and bowling, I've played Lacrosse, where I play long stick defense. I also wrestled for two years. In addition to that, I took dance classes for 5 years, in ballet, technique, and jazz; for 2 of those years, I competed in competitions and ranked. I have participated in my junior high school food pantry as well as raised $500 for equipment for my junior high school lacrosse team. I have participated in the St. Anthony's S.A.L.T. toy drive for the past 4 years, I also volunteer for turkeys for vets through the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition, I volunteer at the Deer Park Community Commerce Breakfast with Santa, as well writing book reviews for the local library's teen book section on their website. I play the guitar and violin. I was a member of my junior high school chorus, and I am now a member of the St. Anthony's choir.
I see a nutritionist once to twice a month to make sure that I am eating properly and maintaining myself in the healthiest manner. I workout 6 times a week for 4 hours a day doing football drills, strength, speed and agility training at Revolution Athletics. I love football, I am a team player, whatever the team needs, I will do.
In college I see myself continuing to grow and learn as I aspire to get my degree in criminal justice. As I grow both mentally and physically, I see myself being an integral part of my college and any team that I am a part of. I will strive to be a positive asset both on and off the field. I will conduct myself with honor and respect, and will always keep in mind that how I carry myself is a reflection of not just who I am, but of my school, my coaches, and my teammates.
As with anything I do, I want to make sure that I give it my all and always do my best. Your only true competition is yourself, and as long as you're true to yourself, and treat others with respect and dignity, there is nothing that you can not achieve.
Sincerely,
Jonathan L. DeJesus
