Personal Statement
Football has been a part of my life since I was eight years old. I joined an organization that was just starting and it was one of the best decisions my parents made for me. The Durham Titans gave me the drive and the love I have for the game. They also instilled the importance of character and academics. My parents have always had to struggle to make sure I was able to play football. They continue to sacrifice to make sure I am able to continue to chase my dream. I was humbled my freshman year because after being an elite player for the Titans, I did not get much playing time. This taught me to never expect every coach to know your abilities. You must prove yourself in every situation. I worked hard during off season and was a starter and received the Defensive MVP award this past season. I am going into my junior year starting at outside linebacker on the varsity team. My grind will continue and I will improve with every work out and every game.
Playing college football and earning my degree are goals I plan to achieve. I am looking for a program that fits me athletically and academically. I value the academic aspect of the student-athlete as well as the athletic competition. I believe I have the talent to compete for a college team, but that is not the only thing I have to offer. My character, work ethic, leadership skills and faith will also help me to make an immediate impact on your program.
