Personal Statement

I want to go to college and play football and get an education. I love football and understand the commitment and process that it teaches you. I want to go to a top collegiate school that is as competitive in football as it is in academics. Every play I strive for greatness and succeed with my team. I value the relationship with my team and will execute every action with a hope to make the team better, and I expect my teammates to do the same. I am different from most players because I have a passion and determination that fuels my play. I always strive to get better because I know that if I am not, then I am getting worse. On the field, in the classroom, and in life I show this commitment to self improvement through my results.

In my freshman year at Gulf Coast High School I came into the football season after just moving to Florida. I knew nobody and everything seemed strange. Though, when football season started I felt at home. Everything just seemed to go together. I came into the season thinking that I was going to play defensive end. However, one day in the beginning of the season my coach had just yelled at us for not having a linebacker out on the field when he asked for a defense. I took it as a hint that he wanted someone to step up and fill this starting spot, and one of my goals was to be a starter and leader on the team. Without hesitation I sprinted out onto the field and played linebacker that entire practice. After that day I never left linebacker and looked forward to it every day. This not only changed my life in football but gave me a home in this new environment, and throughout the season this will and passion increased with my Knowledge of the game. I learned so much about the mental side of football and I learned how to make the most of the things that I can control.
