Personal Statement

It all started when I was in kindergarten. My dad used to play football for his local base team and I would be right there watching his every move from the sideline. He played receiver and I was amazed at the things he would do on the field and then something clicked. It was like after watching so many of dad's games I knew I wanted to play football. Before, during , and after the game I would always be catching passes from the other players on the sidelines trying my hardest to be just like my dad on the field. I swore to myself that somehow some way I was going to be a reciever. After playing multiple sports at a young age it was almost time to play actual football but since my parents were both military at the time there was a lot of moving around from base to base. So   my first time ever playing football for a real team wasn't tackle but flag for the local base youth team since It was too late to join any tackle football teams. I played receiver and quarterback just like my dad did I was super happy to finally get to play and the game came naturally to me and I just knew this is going to be something I want to do in the future. At the end of my 5th grade year i ended hitting a huge growth spurt and went from 5'1 to 5'7. We ended up moving to Califorilnia in the middle of summer and I finally got to play tackle football. Due to my size the coaches instantly wanted me to play offensive line but I instantly knew that wasn't something I wasn't interested in doing. So after a few games I told the coach I wanted to try a new position and the defensive coordinator for my team took me and put me on the d-line. When I got my first sack in the game it was a huge adrenaline rush and I felt like I couldn't be stopped. At the end of the season I had ended up choosing to stay on the defensive side of the ball and play defensive line. Ever since then I've grown a passion for being a force in the backfield.

I take football very seriously but being a military brat the "education is first" mindset was installed inside me at an early age. My Father would always tell that he doesn't care about football and that he only cares about academics and always reminded me that football is never more important than my grades. He was so serious in fact there were times he wouldn't let me go to practice, meets, sometimes even games if my grades weren't in tip top shape. So to make sure that my football career was safe I made sure my gpa stood at a 3.0 or higher. My plan in life is to make a lot of money doing something that I really enjoy doing. I want to go to go college to play collegiate level football and double major in History and Buisness Marketing. Once I have my undergrad in History if I don't make the NFL I plan to go to law schooland study to become a lawyer.
