Personal Statement
Life without soccer would be dull and boring! Soccer is my life. I started playing at the age of 5 on a co-ed recreation team. As a kid, I tried many different sports including dance, gymnastics, and volleyball, but I found soccer was the only sport that made me truly happy. I would never complain about going to training and wanted to go even on the days I was off. The only thing I ever complained about according to my mom was “Putting all the stuff on” (meaning shin guards, socks, cleats). As I started figuring out my strengths, soccer became my passion. I have a natural ability for speed, athleticism, physicality and leadership and have worked to improve technically as well as developing my soccer IQ and strategy over the years. When I was 9, I moved to the Challenge Division. I quickly realized that it didn’t feel competitive enough for me, so in 2015 I tried out for CASL’s Classic program. I made Classic on a lower level team and each year I have challenged myself to work harder and get better. Since 2015, I have moved up multiple levels and I’m now playing in the ECNL and love every minute of it.
I realized a few years ago after watching several of my cousins play soccer that I wanted to play at the collegiate level. Ultimately, I would love to play at the National Level, but I try to focus on one game at a time, one season at a time. My focus during these development years is to target the areas where I can improve both my strengths and weaknesses for myself and my team. In a few years, I would like to be the player who can provide the college I choose a coachable and solid player with a great attitude willing to learn and grow while being a game changer that will contribute to a successful program.
Coming from a single parent home, family values have always been important to me. My Mom pushes me, supports and encourages me and is my biggest fan. She has always supported any decisions to advance my soccer career and found a way to make it happen. I know it has been a sacrifice for her, so I work my hardest to return the same blessings she has provided me.
