Personal Statement
As soon as I walked on the football field, at age 11, I knew that is where I was suppose to be. My coaches told me I had the biggest heart on the team. My strength and confidence grew the more playing time I received both on the offensive and defensive line. The coaches liked how coachable I was and that I was willing to try any position. In seventh grade I joined wrestling, which I continue to do, as it helps with my football footwork, defensive hand positioning and staying in shape. I enjoy staying physically active. Being part of a team is everything to me.
I have been working hard since touching a football to reach my goals. I want to play football at the highest collegiate level. I’ve worked on my academics both in and out of school to raise my GPA. I am on a healthy eating plan, taking speed and agility classes, plus working off season at other sports to keep in shape. Last year our team went 8-1. I started on defense and special teams, but also had many opportunities on offense. This year I am 5’ 9” 190 lbs. I have started every game at defensive tackle and special teams. I have also had some offensive playing time. The coaches have said I am motivated, hardworking and stronger than any of the varsity players were at this age. They have brought me up to play on our 11-0 Varsity Team during our playoff run. I am proud to say I went in the last two minutes of a playoff game and had 2 tackles. The experience is something I will never forget.
I am hoping to find a college that is the right fit for me in every way. A college that meets my academic needs and helps guide me toward my career goals. A college that I find peers that enjoy many of the same things as I do. I really would like to get the most out of college life. I enjoy being involved. I have volunteered at an animal sanctuary and I have been a camp counselor at a summer camp. I am a part of Habitat for Humanity and I like going to extracurricular activities at school. I’m looking for a college that offers those opportunities. My family is very important to me. I know it would make them proud to see me at a college with excellent academic standards and wearing a football jersey on a field surrounded by my teammates.
