Personal Statement

I want to start this by saying that I hope anyone that reads this is doing well and is healthy.  Thankfully, my family has gotten through this without a sickness and I hope it continues. I am also thankful that I have been able to keep up my training with my goalie coach over the last few months. Goalie gloves work!!  This past week, I have been able to train with my team (VSA U19 Premier Red) and although they can't take shots on me yet, it feels so good to be on the fields again.  Meanwhile,   I have spent a TON of time in my father's workshop building small wooden boxes (which I sold) and making anything I can think of. I'm also working with my county's middle school Art Teacher to create an Teacher's Assistant position for me to cover some open slots I have for classes this coming year.  I literally only need 4 classes to graduate; but I want to fill the extra time doing the other thing I love which is anything artsy.   So again, I hope you are doing well and please read the rest of my statement. I love all sports, it's just that soccer is my first love since I was 4. I've played basketball for my middle school, I've participated on a swim team, and will easily play football with the boys.  I really enjoy Futsal as well.  I have excelled in all positions on the field but discovered my talent as a goalie in 2017. I believe playing striker taught me how to anticipate a ball coming at me. When I'm not playing a sport, you'll catch me listening or watching ESPN (Go CAPS!) or working in my dad's wood shop creating or fixing something. My friends say I'm a pretty good artist as well. In the Fall of 2018 I volunteered as the Goalie Coach for Marshall Middle School girls soccer team - I had a blast and loved being a mentor. 

I'm currently enrolled at Liberty High School in Northern VA in US History AP/DE, English 11 AP/DE, Psychology, Personal Finance and Chemistry. I've thought about teaching history or art, although my dream job would be to coach collegiality or professionally. I’ve recently started my own goalie coaching business to help pay for my expenses.

To me, soccer isn't just a physical game, it's a mental game that I play well. I consider myself a leader, a team player and I thrive when the team is a family. Give me a challenge and I'll rise to it. Give me a goal and I will do my best to meet it.
