Personal Statement
Growing up, I always had a passion for football. I loved to play, watch, and educate myself about the sport. However, having Tourette's Syndrome caused some to doubt my passion and capabilities to be a successful athlete. From the beginning, I always felt that my abilities to play certain positions were unnoticed by my coaches. My freshman year was no different and unfortunately was more of a struggle. I had to adjust to the reality of high school academically and physically in sports. I was faced with many challenges during that year but they helped me grow as a person.
Within the first few weeks of summer practice, I endured an injury and I never got the chance to compete. At the beginning of my sophomore year I was overlooked because of the lack of experience from the previous year. I had to prove my worth to the team as well as erase any doubts the coaches may have had about my abilities to play quarterback. This motivated me to work harder, to become a better person, and a better teammate. Through this determination and dedication, I took over the starting roll of JV quarterback. I learned how to become a leader, a role model, and to always give 110% in everything I do.
I am looking for a program that will give me the opportunity to share my athletic abilities as a teammate with others, to prove my leadership role, as well as my dedication to never accept failure on or off the field. I know I have the capabilities to be a successful college student athlete and that I also display the characteristics that will be of value to your program.
