Personal Statement
In my 4 years playing on the Varsity Volleyball team I have always been held accountable by my coach, for any duties in the scope of volleyball, which has taught me responsibility to my team and myself, as I only get better if I rigorously attend practice and work on my own to improve, not only athletically but through academics because she has always had us put our studies first. During my Freshman and Sophomore years I missed a substantial amount of school ( nearly a year) with a 504 Plan because I was suffering from, what at the time was some unknown illness that made me sleep for up to 20 hours a day; we later discovered that I had sleep apnea after months and months of testing and studies done. After I managed to get back to class I not only had to work extremely hard to catch up but also make up work from an entire semester in which I missed over 4 courses worth of work. At the end of the following summer I managed to come out of the term with A's and a few high B's after having minimal to no class time to work through the advanced courses I had missed. Now I'm back on track with high grades and a full Varsity sports schedule including not only volleyball but two seasons of both lacrosse and swim team. I have been committed to sports and working around a full academic schedule my whole life, as I started my swim team when I was about 4, and continue on to this day to not only swim but also coach so as to spread my love of athletics to upcoming athletes. In my future, I dream of having a career as a doctor either a pediatrician or a psychiatrist, so that I can truly make a difference.
