Personal Statement
My name is Saymere Clark and I will be a graduating senior of the class of 2020 at the William W. Bodine High School for International Affairs, a challenging-at-times, international baccalaureate, and magnet program in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I’m also a 5’8”, 160 lbs. starting athlete and team captain of the Mastbaum Panthers football team. I believe I can be a contributing factor to your football program.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, I am the product of the School District of Philadelphia, where my father has been a teacher for eighteen years. I lost my mother when I was only two-years-old and for the last three years, my father has faced a series of health issues, so I am aware of what it takes to persevere despite all odds, face a challenge, and learn how to grow from it. You should know that I started the Mastbaum football program as a walk-on, developing my leadership skills by becoming a co-captain, enabling me to lead the team this past year as captain.
According to 2019's Red Zone Prospects Evaluation (completed by an NFL Veteran Selection Committee), I have been ranked as a two-star athlete who is “Versatile and capable of playing on both sides of the ball. Clark is willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. His combination of speed and improving strength help matters.”
I also have been recently selected as one of 55 seniors to play in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl. This is quite the honor given that since freshman year, I have taken every opportunity to attend every rising prospect football camp that I could attend, including Millersville University, West Chester University, Kutztown University, Villanova University, Lincoln University, East Stroudsburg University, and Temple University, with an opportunity in 2018 to also return for the Temple University Elite Camp. I also participated in several combines this year, including the AdiZero Rivals combine.
My goal has always been clear. I wanted to obtain the necessary feedback, not only improve my skills to be an asset to my current team, but to be able to effectively contribute to any team that I am allowed to play for in the future.
I also wanted to be mentally and emotionally prepared for what is expected of me on a college level. It is one thing to just play football, but it is another thing to be what my dad calls a “student-athlete,” and learn how to balance my love of football with ensuring that I obtain a quality education. I also want to be coachable. I will be the first to tell you that I do not know everything. However, I am willing to learn and with the right coach, I want to see how much I can accomplish. I am willing to put in the necessary work for this opportunity to become a college player that can help to win those close, tough games.
Please take a moment to review my Hudl profile, which contains highlights of my efforts thus far: http://www.hudl.com/profile/8652047/Saymere-Clark or my Twitter account: @Saymere that I am using to document my progress. Thank you for your time and I look forward to potentially speaking with or meeting you in the future and with your help becoming an integral part of your football roster!
Sincerely,
Saymere L. Clark
