Personal Statement

Ever since I was a kid I have always been very competitive. I remember watching every combine and mimicking the drills all the athletes did. I constantly was around football and began to fall in love with it at a young age. I have never accepted mediocrity with myself and love to dive head first into any task placed in front of me. School and sports are my highest priorities and ever since I was a kid, my parents would make sure I was always doing the best I could in school and sports. I always wanted to be like the "greats" my dad would talk about like Jerry Rice and Randy Moss. These guys influenced me to chase after my goal of playing college football. All of my life no matter what the weather has been, after completing my schoolwork, I would grab one of my friends, a ball, and run down to the nearest field and spend the whole night catching balls and running routes. I have played football for over 5 years, same as basketball, and track for 3. Each of these has developed me into a leader and shaped my character to care for others and always show good sportsmanship. Throughout all of my academic and athletic career, I have always been a workhorse and loved coming upon new adversities to overcome. What I think separates me from other recruits is my work ethic, and my drive to achieve any goal I set. My whole life people have always told me that kids from small towns never make it to division 1 schools, and that has always been in my mind. Despite the things, others have said I never let it affect me, always keeping my eyes on the prize. Persistence is key.
