Personal Statement

As the youngest of five siblings, I've learned a lot about the power of teamwork and communication. It also taught me to be very competitive. I love my siblings to death, but I really love it when I play them and win. I generally have a laid-back personality, but volleyball brings out my competitive side.

At one of my first club volleyball tournaments, we had lost every single match that first day. While driving back to the hotel with my dad, I was crying the whole way and told him that I didn't know why volleyball made me feel this way because no other sport or activity makes me feel like this. My dad was happy, not because I was crying but because I was passionate about volleyball. He even laughed at me at the end of the high school season when I told him that I couldn't wait for club volleyball to start when others were getting tired of all the practices and matches. This passion for volleyball is why I want to continue playing in college.
