Personal Statement
Football is a dream of mine that I have had ever since I can remember. Being the little kid glued to the TV watching it just wishing to play. My seventh grade year was my first year ever playing football. I first started off on the offensive line and as a defensive end. My coach always told me I had talent and potential from day one when I suited up in pads. I had the drive and the fight if I got knocked down I was getting right back up and getting to the ball. At the start of my eighth grade year I was a center and a defensive end/ linebacker. I had not grown much only being five foot ten by the end of that season at only 170lbs. To me it wasn't about size or even strength it was being mentally and physically focused. The summer before my Freshman season was all about football from studying the way offenses tried to move the ball to work in the weight room. I gained 40lbs that summer and was no longer only five foot ten but had grown to 6' 1". At the start of summer I had talked to both my JV defensive coordinator and the Varsity one and both of them recommend that I come out for Mike Linebacker. Working with my linebacker coach I learned a lot and began to grow as a leader for my defense. When the season started the JV team needed a Defensive Tackle and so I stepped up to the plate playing a position I had never dealt with playing. I got the hang of what I was doing and to be honest playing DT only helped my Line-backing game so I now know what holes are what and how tight or small the holes may be for me to get through. It was a great experience made me grow as an individual as well as helped my team.
Any coach that has ever coached me from football to basketball, track, wrestling, and weightlifting would all probably tell you that I make sacrifices not only for myself but for my team. People still consider me undersized and all that does is drive me to be a better player it always keeps an edge on my shoulder so that I can always look back and be like I did this no matter what my speculations were. I always put time into my school work as well as my work in the weight room or on the field because none of those make you successful by themselves so I always give 100% no matter whats on the line how tired I am or even thinking about what happens if I fail. Playing college football is a dream I had even before I began to play the sport. I consider myself a leader that is both a motivational leader as well as one that just does the right thing. People try to trash talk me in the game from even days before the game even occurs and to be honest it really does not effect my game because its really just their words against my actions I believe you only have the right to trash talk if you can back it up. Like I have said I give my 100% and am a student of the game if I am not fishing, practicing, doing homework or working out you will find me watching films or watching videos on how to improve my football game. I believe I can play football on any level because even though I'm not the best because there is always someone better than you I sure do test people and make people mad when the can't do anything. I get to the ball as fast as I can and I do not let anything stop me. Football is my life I literally eat, sleep, and drink football.
I have always been a believer of the saying school comes first. Without school and keeping on track and maintaining good grades football would never happen. What makes me stand out in school is I try at every aspect of school in every subject even if I'm not the best in that subject. Math is definitely my strong suit where specific subjects of science I either don't like or don't find important. My collegiate goal is to be able to walk out of college with my bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering. It doesn't matter what class I am thrown into I give it my all I always take notes so detailed I can teach it to myself if need be. College football would be a dream come true but it all starts in the classroom. Thank You.
