Personal Statement
The Lord has blessed me to grow up in a great family. My parents are both public school teachers and I have three younger siblings who I have always helped look after. Other than my relationship with Jesus Christ, my family has had the greatest influence on who I am. I have always had a interest in football because I have grown up around it due to my dad being a high school coach. Watching the older players and what they did on the field really made me want to be just like them. I was very blessed to either be a ball boy or the charter for offensive plays since my 6th grade year, so I have been involved in the game even in my younger years. Through playing football I have learned that it takes a lot to mentally and physically break me. I feel like there is no situation in practice or games that I can not handle and take control of. Getting hit physically is not a big deal to me and I can take in a lot of information quickly, so I use these abilities to improve my development as a QB. Football has grown my composure and leadership skills which have made me a better QB. In my high school career, my goal is to maintain a 4.0 GPA for all four years and to make the athletic honor role. For college, my goal is to thrive academically and to maintain all aspects of my life. Whether it is grades, faith, family, or football, I want to strive to be my best in every area.
On my journey to where I am now, it has not been all stress free and easy. In 8th grade, I had a rough football season. I wasn't making good decisions with the ball and was not putting my team in the best position to win. I ended up getting benched in the semi final game and this was a tough pill to swallow. The next week was the championship game and we lost 42-7. After the season ended, I had thoughts of "can I do this anymore?" and "is quarterback the right position for me?" During this period of time, I just went to the Lord with all of my burdens and he took the pressure away and I was able to enjoy my basketball season.
The characteristics that I believe set me apart from other players are that I am very cool under pressure and don't get caught up in the successes that me and my team have accomplished. I celebrate good performances but immediately go watch film to see what we can do better. I almost never have a game, no matter how good or bad I have played, that I am satisfied with my performance. I am my hardest critic and have a deep, burning desire to do the right thing at all times. I desire to go to college to further my education so that in the future I can be a good leader and provider for my family. Personally, I desire to go to the school that God opens the door to and that provides me the best opportunity to compete at a high level and to further my education in the major I decide on. I look forward to my future and what God has in store.
