Personal Statement

I am mentally tough and resilient.  I have experienced extreme adversity and I overcame it.  My story is below:

It has been my lifelong dream to play college basketball.  In 6th grade that dream was put on hold as I suffered a life-threatening accident that resulted in multiple surgeries and several years of physical therapy.  I missed 7th, 8th, 9th, & 10th grade basketball and sports.  Those years were so difficult and painful physically and mentally.  Ultimately, I fully healed due to a wonderful therapy that my parents discovered called Rolfing.  With all the time missed, we reclassified so I would have 3 years before I graduated high school.  Here is what has happened since I’ve returned.

  • My first year back (2019-2020) I led my JV team in scoring while playing just 2 quarters per game.   My first two varsity points of my career came on a last second game winning 18 foot jumper against a conference rival.  We cried tears of joy that night!
  • My second year back (2020-2021), I started for varsity and averaged 10.5 pts and 5.5 rebounds while helping lead our team to conference regular season and tournament titles.
  • My third year back (2021-2022), I was selected team MVP and led our team in scoring 16.3 ppg, and rebounding 8.8 rpg while also earning the following awards:
  • ORHC Conference Player of the Year
  • ORHC Conference All-Defense 1st Team
  • NCHBC All-Region 1st Team (Southeast)
  • Jarod Lovekamp Invitational Tournament MVP
  • Battle of the Bridges All Star (Louisville, KY)

With all the time that I missed, I’m essentially a freshman in basketball years.  I’m just getting started, continue to learn and improve every day, and feel like the best is yet to come!

I am truly blessed to be able to still play the sport that I love.  I sincerely value the opportunity to potentially continue my career after high school.
