Personal Statement
My name is Aiden Dodge. I am 16 years old, 5'11'', 170-pound Junior receiver/safety at Wauwatosa East High School in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Football has been a big part of my life since I was 9, and I have been working to get better every day since so that I could have the chance to play football at the next level.
Knowing that I won't have the opportunity to one day play football at the professional level unless I also stand out in the classroom, I have taken my academics very seriously. My parents have always taught me that if I don't do my job in the classroom I will not be able to participate in sports or other activities. I have challenged myself with harder classes this year and in the past, putting myself 2 years ahead in math. I know that if I challenge myself now it will better prepare me for future years of high school and college.
At the same time, I have challenged myself on the field to become the best receiver and team player I can be. I have played organized football since the age of 10, first playing as an offensive tackle for 2 years before switching to wide receiver at the age of 12, and becoming an instant starter and I've been the leading receiver on my team every year since. Including many key catches and touchdowns late in games and becoming the go to player in the end of close games and long yardage situations.
Ever since I could understand what the NFL was I wanted to one day play professionally. Now, I know that I need to pursue playing in college before I can even think about play professionally. I have worked nonstop this off-season going to weight room after school 4 times a week, attending personal training 4 days a week, getting in field work nearly every day, going to speed camps, and most importantly in the classroom. All year I go to camps with the same goal to get better and learn something new every time.
Having a trainer at my school who played professionally pushes me and my teammates every week to get better and stronger and he knows what to do and how to help me play at the next level.
Thank you for taking your time to evaluate me and get me closer to making my dream a reality.
