Personal Statement


As a young girl, I fell in love with the game of softball and I have always dreamed of playing in college.  My freshman year began kind of rough.  I did not see the field much in the first few games and I began to wonder what I wasn't doing to get the coach's attention.  What I thought was a minor setback was just the opposite.  That lack of playing time forced me to work that much harder on my game and push myself to be so good that the coaches couldn't afford not to have me on the field.  That motivation worked!  Not only did I see significant playing time, I was one of only 2 freshman moved up to play on the varsity for Regionals, was the only JV player to start ( 3 games ), and by the end of the season, I had one of the top batting averages on the entire team.   I will use the lessons that I have learned early in my high school career to help guide and push me to meet and exceed all of the goals I set for myself.    I plan to make my college years those of personal growth, first as a student and second as an athlete.  My goal is to explore a major in Communications with a focus on Sports Broadcasting.  In the classroom I will strive to do the best I can and work toward my degree.  On the field, I plan to be a team player and positive influence for the team.   As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college softball career, I will strive to be an asset to to my team whether in the locker room or on the field.  Most importantly, knowing that the way I convey myself not only reflects on me, but my team, my coaches and the school I attend.  I will conduct myself with honor and respect both on and off the field.
