Personal Statement

My love for the game of football is unmatched. I have played football since I was 5 years old and my love of the game has grown year after year.  I love the feeling of punishing a ball carrier and reading a play as it happens. The football field is where I feel the most comfortable and where I use my leadership skills the most. Because football has come so naturally for me, in some ways, I took the game for granted. Then, a turning point came in my freshman year, when the game was stripped from me.

It was my 9th grade year when my school dropped the football program. I realized then, that I may never get the chance to play football again. This gave me an opportunity to discover another talent through Track and Field, where I was one of only two sophomores to medal in the state finals in discus, but my love for football remained. I then got a second chance to play football again due to my school closing. I was able to return to the field my junior year at Westminster Academy, and it was a year that I will never forget. I was back where I belonged, leading my team to the conference playoffs.

Although I received with an honorable mention for All-County Defense 1A-5A in The Sun-Sentinal newspaper this past season, I was most proud of the fact that my team had gone from a winless season the year before, to clinching a playoff spot in the 3A division.

I have been a leader on every team I have played on. My coaches have always depended on me when it comes to big time plays. I love being their go-to player when an important play needs to be made on defense.

I believe that I am an excellent team leader. I keep players in their place, I keep peoples energy up, and I'm never scared. A lot of what I learned about leadership in life, I learned on the football field.

This is what my passion is and I want to do it long term.
