Personal Statement
Everybody has their thing. You know the thing they are introduced by, "Hey! I want ya'll to meet Frank, he is a mathematician." Yeah, that thing. My thing has always been Fastpitch. I knew from the very beginning, when I started playing on a boys farm team, that this was something I wanted to do for as long as possible and as well as possible.
Now to be honest with you, when I was on farm team I was probably the worst player (skills wise) that you have ever seen. Attitude wise, I always tried my hardest and enjoyed every moment. I would work on skills I needed to improve at home, picking things up so quickly that you could see an improvement by the next time practice came around. While I’m proud to say my attitude has never changed, I’m glad to say that my skills have improved greatly.
Now, what makes me different from other athletes. I would hope that what I list off doesn't make me different but instead be traits possessed by every athlete. I am a quick learner, and a hard worker; I accept instruction, and build from it; I like to think I have a good sense of humor; I have strong commitment, and a respect for authority; I always do my best to help wherever I can.
As far as academics go, it gets a bit interesting. I am a year ahead of my age group to start with. I was homeschooled from 3rd grade till my sophomore year of high school. Then I entered a program called running start, that allows you to finish your last two years of high school while earning an AA degree. I am now a member of Phi Theta Kappa and (knock on wood) have a GPA of 4.0. At the end of this school year I will graduate with a high school diploma and an AA. What that leaves is where to go next. I know I want to continue onto another college or university, but I haven't quite pinned down what sort of degree I’m looking for yet. The thing I know for sure is that I want to continue playing Fastpitch.
