Personal Statement

I've played on many different teams before and I have seen the winning and losing side to soccer. I know how to work hard and I constantly strive to be the best at whatever it is I do. Going from the junior high to the high school was tough but that didn’t bring down my 3.75 GPA or keep me out of AP classes. On top of my academics, I was the only sophomore on the Varsity team in 2013 and played with several kids who received scholarships to play soccer at a collegiate level. That year we upset Troy Athens -who was ranked 9th in the nation- in the district finals and made it farther than any other team at Utica high school (Regional Finalists). Throughout all 26 games we played that season, I was never scored on more than twice in one game. Going into my junior year we graduated 11 seniors so as a team we had a rough season, individually though, I reached a new level in goalkeeping. I faced all different types of shots, communication on the field increased tremendously, and also I learned how to keep a positive attitude even when things couldn’t get any worse. As a senior captain and being the only player left from the incredible 2013 season, I have big plans to lead my team to another district title and hopefully further. I understand collegiate soccer is a big deal but nothing will discourage me from getting there. I'm strong willed and I know I can do it.
