Personal Statement

I grew up in a small town in Wyoming. Around age 5 I developed a love for sports and football. At age 8 my family moved to Texas. I played my first year of tackle football with a  local club and fell in love with the game. I was a chubby little 9 year old who was slow and uncoordinated. My coaches put me as a second string offensive guard. I didn't get much playing time and was overlooked time and time again by coaches. One coach would tell me to go in and the head coach would tell me to sit back down. That didn't stop me, it ignited my fire and passion to get better. I had a desire and dream to be on the defensive side. At 9 years old I started putting in the hard work, dedication, and grit to play on the defensive side. I was saddened that the next season didn't exist because of Covid, but that gave me more time to dedicate and put in the hard work!

The following season I had a new coach who gave me a chance to prove my worth. I showed so much growth that year and am thankful to that coach for seeing something in me and not letting my dreams of football die out. By the end of that season, not only was I getting play time, I was a starter on the offensive line! I wasn't satisfied yet, I still wanted the defensive side. Following the conclusion of the season, I was invited to play on a local select team...as a defensive player! Once again I owe my current success to another coach who saw something in me.

By 7th grade, I had earned a starting defensive tackle position on the school's "A" team. A position I held all through middle school. I continued to show hard work and dedication to bettering myself and earning my position. In middle school another coach saw something in me, this time different. He saw me as a leader on and off the field and encouraged leadership skills. Our middle school team went undefeated two straight years in a row due to the chemistry we had built together.

As a freshman I was starting defensive tackle for the Freshman "A" team. I continued to put in the work and do everything my coaches have asked me to do to grow as a football player and a young man. I attend every strength and conditioning event, football training camp, before and afterschool workouts, and community service events. Though our season as a team did not go well, I am determined to make next year our season.

I owe my current success to my faith in God, my encouraging family, and coaches that have seen something in me and helped me grow in to the player and man I am. I look forward to a future playing football and developing my skills.
