Personal Statement
Greetings Coach and thank you for spending your valuable time learning more about the person and the athlete that I am. My goal is to be the best student athlete while earning and maintaining the respect of my family, coaches and teammates. I am fiercely competitive in all I do and ALWAYS put my team and my teammates first. The brothers that I share the field with never question whether or not I have their back or will they get my best. I love the mental portion of football which is why I asked to be Center all the way back in 5th grade. I have been starting at that position since. As a Center, you also have to be VERY coachable and willing to listen and comprehend instructions. I have been fortunate to have great coaches to learn from. This past year I had the opportunity to start both ways at Center and Nose Tackle in the very competitive Oakland Activities Association Red Conference. It was a great learning experience.
Being a member of the wrestling and power lifting teams for the LO Dragons started as a way to get better at football but has evolved into separate passions. I love that you have to have mental toughness and push your body and mind past where you think you can to excel at both sports. I also play baseball at the recreation level and sing in the school choir.
None of the above is achievable without good academics and scholarly success. I am a student athlete and there is a reason student is first. With supportive teachers and family, I have been able to do well in school while taking difficult courses. I will continue to work for better grades and that drive will remain present after high school. I will devote the time, energy, and determination to succeeded in my academics.
"Life is hard. No matter who you are, there are bumps and hits and bruises along the way. And my advice is to prepare yourself because football lessons teach us that success and achievement come from overcoming adversity, and that team accomplishment far exceeds anyone’s individual goals. To be successful at anything, the truth is you don’t have to be special. You just have to be what most people aren’t. Consistent, determined, and willing to work for it. No shortcuts.”- Tom Brady
