Personal Statement

Hello my name is Larry Darnell Shingleton III and I was born on May 11, 2010. I'm a dual-sport athlete playing both football and basketball. I pursue football most as that is my goal and my biggest dream of making it big. I'm an offensive and defensive tackle starting both sides of the ball and is a great leader on and off the field. I work hard on my academics as I strive to be the best I can be in the classroom averaging a steady amount of grades consisting of mostly A's and some B's. I know being a professional athlete/College athlete isn't easy to become and how I work and my motor to keep continuing to strive will set me apart from the rest of the athletes in my class.

I would say, with me being a starter on the field and playing both sides, I command my team in many ways as well as uplift them as a teammate and as a leader. As me being a captain of my football team for two years in a row now, I can say, I have led them right in keeping them level-headed and making sure that they remind themselves we have to be united as one since that is the way we will win big games. When I'm on the field I do a lot of communicating with my offensive and defensive line making sure they see what I see so where on the same track and can move as a unit to make something happen on the field. My ability to stay level-headed in intense situations and to control my self when someone is trying to get into my head I'm able to block out negative impact and let it motivate me to play even harder than what I actually was.

As me being a student-athlete I know that academics are important in my path to greatness. Me being a student first and an athlete second I wouldn't make it to where I want to be in the football community if I didn't do what I had to do in the classroom and on the field. I know the importance of having good grades and a good coachable mindset to for I can easily fit into any situation or circumstance I'm put into. I know what it means to have an athlete that is there on Saturday's when you need them and I know how important it is for me to keep steady grades and to always have a working mindset because that is my drive and my courage to keep going with this.
