Personal Statement
My name is Lauren Stingley, and I am 15 years old. I have been playing softball since I was five. From a very young age, my dream has been to play at the collegiate level. It was once I started pitching that I truly fell in love with the game.
After a very rough start during a 10U league game, my coach wanted to know if anyone wanted to come in and pitch in relief with “no experience required.” I jumped at the chance! That first game pitching was pretty rough, but I could tell that I really was going to like it. After that, I started taking lessons and began pitching as my primary position in 12U.
My secondary position is first base, but I am also considered a utility player on my team. In addition, I enjoy hitting, and I am currently working to become a switch hitter.
Leadership:
I have gravitated towards being a leader on every team I’ve played on, serving as captain on two teams. I lead by example, striving to be supportive by cheering on teammates when they make positive plays and encouraging girls when they are struggling. I have a lot of empathy for other pitchers, and if they are struggling, I do everything I can so they know that I am in their corner.
Academics:
My parents have always encouraged me to make academics my first priority. I am homeschooled through Acellus Academy and also attend a homeschool co-op for some other subjects. Currently, I am maintaining a 4.0. In the future, I would like to own and/or manage a business and would like to pursue a degree in business to support this goal. I would also like to give pitching and hitting lessons to help younger athletes.
Other Interests:
I really enjoy writing. My grandmother published multiple books, and I aspire to write my own book someday. I also enjoy hanging out with friends, playing video games, working out, singing, and making people laugh.
