Personal Statement
My name is Tommy Jackson, class of 2027. I am a two-way Varsity starter for Woodstock High School Blue Streaks in Woodstock, Illinois.
I have been playing the greatest game since I was in first grade, which has provided me with a lot of experience in the sport. I am coming into my 10th year as an offensive and defensive lineman, but what has really been the greatest thing is how it has helped me become a honor roll student, an active member of my community/parish as well as a leader on and off the field.
As far back as I remember, I've been participating in sports, always finding myself being a motivator and supporter from an early age. Last year I decided to whittle my athletic focuses on basketball, I'm currently playing junior varsity (6pts/10reb/6asst avg), as well as football in all capacities including offseason training, a very aggressive lifting regiment as well as 7v7 and Flag etc. This year should be my first year as a track and field athlete so we will see how that goes adding that to the rotation! At the end of my freshman season, I made a commitment to my team and myself to become a better leader and better athlete. I was the only freshman captain on the JV team and used that as a motivator to increase my strength training as well as my overall muscle growth, adding massive gains to my weight (60lbs) as well with my capability of strength training. I felt the impact throughout the season, which concluded with me as a member of the Kishwaukee River Conference Honorable Mention Team.
As I mentioned earlier, I've been lucky enough that my skill set on the field has translated to my off-the-field opportunities as well. I'm currently a 3.9 GPA student taking honors and dual credit courses as a sophomore. I've consistently maintained this standard my entire academic career so far. I really do enjoy working with kids as I see myself as a coach someday. I love the outdoors in all aspects as well as spending time with my family/friends and all the opportunities I can to volunteer/ work with student organizations.
The youth football program that I was developed through lived by the acronym GFAA (God/Family/Academics/Athletics). I believe, in that order, the next item simply would not exist. I treasure my time on the field regardless of what sport I'm playing, and I make the most of every moment I have; there's nothing that's ever promised to you. I feel like I certainly have my priorities in my life but without the “GFA” that last “A” is very difficult and nearly impossible. I'm blessed to have faith, a wonderful family and the ability to achieve scholastic goals which helped me be a better athlete and an even better person.
Thank you for your time!
