Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Matthew Pearce. I am a 5’11”, 165 pound rising freshman at Mills E. Godwin High School for the Fall of 2024, recruiting class of 2028. I am in Honors classes and had a 3.7/4.0 GPA while at Pocahontas Middle School where I started at Outside Linebacker/Defensive End and played Wide Receiver. I was also on my middle school wrestling and track teams, and have a Second Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. I was in my middle school band where I play the tuba and French horn. I have a great work ethic and discipline, and enjoy learning from my coaches and being a part of a team. My dad was a 5A Second Team All State tight end in high school and played Division I football. I want to follow what he did and play at a high level. He always encourages me to work hard and do my best. “Hustle and have fun” is what we say.
I have many hobbies and keep myself busy. Besides my love of sports, I also enjoy fishing, drawing, playing video games and being outside with my friends. My favorite classes are History, Science, and Art. I have a baby brother that was born in June and I want to be a good role model for him. I have three cats and one dog. I also like to workout and play on recreation teams during the offseason. My favorite food is SueSue’s spaghetti (my grandmother), and I love steak, barbeque, and cold milk. My goal is to play college football and earn a degree in architecture or engineering.
